DuEwa M. Frazier is a dynamic poet, performer, author and speaker. Born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, DuEwa is the Founder/CEO of Lit Noire Publishing, the author of the acclaimed inspirational volume of poetry Shedding Light From My Journeys and author of the forthcoming volume, Stardust Tracks on a Road.
DuEwa's first book, Shedding Light From My Journeys received rave reviews from Amazon.com customers, Rawsistaz Book Reviews (Atlanta) and poetry lovers across the country! As a performer, DuEwa has graced many stages including colleges, theaters, festivals, poetry slam venues and public schools. Highlights in her performance career include her appearance in the poetry documentary "Rhyme & Reason" directed by Annette Calderon and the staging of her self-written, one woman show, "Flash Femininity", a poetic-drama featuring themes on: hip hop, politics, black women facing HIV/AIDS and community upliftment. She has been featured on programs with Ursula Rucker, Abiodun Oyewole (The Last Poets), dead prez, Sonia Sanchez and Haki Madhubuti among other esteemed artists. In 2003, DuEwa was nominated as "Poet of the Year" by SpokenVizions Magazine.
DuEwa received the B.A. in English from Hampton University. She has facilitated poetry workshops in both New York City and Philadelphia and has been a featured panelist at various conferences, for topics ranging from media images of women in hip hop to successful self publishing for writers.
DuEwa's poetry has been published in Essence Magazine, Drumvoices Revue, The Lyrical Times, The African, Signifyin Harlem Literary Journal, Voice , PW Review, For Real Magazine and others.
