They continued walking down the street on the warm June night. The two of them finally arrived at another building in the projects. They walked up the broken steps.
Before Adeana knocked on the door she told Alatta, "Just act cool. I told my friend and his boy we would be their dates. They're the only way we can get a ride, get in, and drink if they are serving liquor at the party.
Alatta just nodded. She didn't know what to say or expect. She also suddenly didn't feel as cool as she thought she was. Knock, Knock.
"Hey shorties." a tall dark skin boy with wavy hair named Pac answered the door.
Alatta thought to herself, why do girls have to be called shorties when we are damn near as tall as most of them. The two girls just smiled and walked inside the smoky apartment.
"Dang!" the other light skin boy screamed out loud, "Pac, you ain't tell me they looked dis good."
Alatta looked at him sitting on the couch and knew he was high. She began to get nervous.
"Caramel skin come sit on my lap," the light skin boy tapped ferociously on his legs.
Alatta's eyes got big, "You talking to me?"
The boy ran his hand over his hair, "No ya five O'clock shadow, yeah you ma come 'ere."
