C&B BOOKS, was started in 1995, by Carol Rogers & Brenda Piper.The motivation behind this book business, was the lack of affordable books written by black authors.  We decided to become an asset to our Youth and the African American community in a whole.  We offer our books for less then the major stores, we knew this would provide our readers with a wider variety of reading material. We have, titles for all ages in all catagories, fiction, non-fiction, spiritual, inspirational, educational etc.

Brooklyn, New York - Zykeya McLeod Author of new Children's book An Inner Child Speaks at the Corridor Gallery-Rush Philantropic Arts Foundation. The book signing at the Corridor Gallery-Rush Philantropic Arts Foundation was the first book signing for Zykeya McLeod Author of An Inner Child Speaks.

The book signing book was held on Saturday May 13, 2006 at The Corridor Gallery-Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation owned by Artist, Danny Simmons in Brooklyn, NY. The event was visited by over 30 adults and 20 children. The response was positive and the book was well received.

Biography
Zykeya McLeod lives in the heart of the Big Apple, Brooklyn, where she attends Middle School by day. In her passtime she enjoys activities such as playing Double Dutch with her younger sister and friends. Some other talents that she's mastered is the ability to play the piano, sing, dance, and act.

Synopsis
A young Princess loses her mother to a sudden death. While overcome by feelings of loneliness and dismay she is forced to live with her physically abusive cousin Olivia. It's sometimes hard being a child, but even harder when you've lost your mom. Quick-witted she reaches out for help and is rescued by her loving Aunt Nina.

Zykeya will appear on The Jacboxer Show with host Ike on Saturday May 20, 2006 at 12noon on Cablevision channel 68 & Time Warner channel 35. This is her first television appearance.

NEW YORK city'S Harlem Book Fair
EXPANDS BEYOND 50,000 READERS and nation-wide

(Harlem, New York) --- The 8th annual Harlem Book Fair will be held on Saturday, July 22, on West 135th Street, between 5th and 7th Avenues, from 12 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Publishers, writers, literacy organizations, cultural and food vendors will exhibit on West 135th St., between 5th and 7th Avenues. Author panel discussions are televised by C-Span's Book TV. This year's program will launch on Friday, July 13th at the Harlem Book Fair Media Reception, held at Commerce Bank, 300 West 125th Street in Harlem at 7 p.m.

Having national recognition and reach with events in New York, NY; San Diego, CA; Buffalo, NY; Boston, MA; Hartford, CT; and in 2007, Toronto, CN, the Harlem Book Fair is the largest African American book fair, attracting over 50,000 booklovers from across the country.

Opening the book fair's festivities will be the Wheatley Book Award ceremony on Friday, July 21, from 7pm to 9pm, at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, a branch of the New York Public Library. The Wheatley Book Award was established to recognize literary achievement that transcends culture, boundary, and perception. Past recipients of the award have included Maya Angelou, Chinua Achebe, Maryse Conde, Terry McMillan, John A. Williams, Sonia Sanchez, Ishmael Reed, and Albert Murray. This year's awardees will be announced on Friday, July 13, at the Harlem Book Fair Media Reception, held at Commerce Bank in Harlem.

On Sunday, July 23, from 11am to 1pm, the book fair closes with the Harlem Book Fair Author/Book Club Brunch at the Schomburg Library. Authors hold court with lively discussions and readings over continental breakfast in a relaxed, informal setting.

This year the Harlem Book Fair proudly inaugurates the International Pavilion, broadening the scope and footprint of the fair. Publishers from Africa, Australia, England, and Canada will be in attendance offering provocative and scholarly titles of interest to the most discerning of readers.

Harlem Book Fair was created by QBR The Black Book Review, the online review publication, as a platform where authors, publishers, booksellers, book buyers and enthusiasts could meet and celebrate their love of books, education, and family literacy. Founded in 1999 as a single day event, the Harlem Book Fair has evolved into a week-long cultural festival. The success of that first Book Fair began what has now become the country's largest community gathering of African American readers and book lovers, and a national brand that is expanding into new markets each year.
