C&B BOOKS, was started in 1995, by Carol Rogers & Brenda Piper. Two years ago we started the C&B Book club, the club has grown immensely. The motivation behind this book business, was the lack of affordable books written by black authors. We decided to become an asset to our Youth and the African American commuitiy in a whole. We offer our books for less then the major stores, we knew this would provide our readers with a wider variety of reading material. We have, titles for all ages in all catagories, fiction, non-fiction, spiritual, inspirational, educational etc.

C&B; Books Selects National Best Selling Author
Hope C. Clarke as
C&B; Books 2004 Mystery Author of the Year

Book Distribution Company C&B; Books Selects National Best Selling Author Hope C. Clarke as 2004 Mystery Author of the Year

(PRWEB) August 22, 2004 -- C&B; Books Distribution Center located at cbbooksdistribution.com has named national best selling author Hope C. Clarke as 2004 Mystery Author of the Year. Hope C. Clarke, is the eldest daughter of seven siblings who reside in Brooklyn, New York. She is a single mom who divides her time between being a full-time mom, employee of JP Morgan Chase and a devoted entrepreneur.

When she is not cultivating her nine-year-old son, or playing the role of administrative assistant, she utilizes her extra time writing and self-publishing fiction novels. She considers herself a Jane-of-many-trade as she had acquired education and training in many industries including accounting, she is a licensed financial planner, multitasking in software operations, etc. Publishing, writing, promoting and marketing has now been added to her list as she introduces to the public her movie-style writing.

Hope Clarke has always been an advent reader since Junior High School. She started off with Judy Bloom stories and matured to Harlequin romances by the time she reached High School. Through her college years, Dean Koontz and Robin Cook are among her favorites today. It was during that time, attending Norman Thomas, that her English professor noticed her skill in abstract writing. The annual Transcript published by Norman Thomas hosted a short story authored by her entitled The Day When The Big It Happened. Her English professor incorporated this story as part of the literary abstract writing for his English classes. This encouragement sparked the desire to continue writing.

Before graduating high school, she had written more than fifty poems and short stories. Today, Hope Clarke encourages the development of talent whether it's writing, singing, speaking, dancing or whatever it may be. She is a firm believer that everyone has a talent and that it should never be wasted. Her writing style is versatile and multinational. She believes that the best-written novels are a compilation of the three basic genres- romance, horror and mystery. The right balance of the three creates a limitless audience.

Her style is fast paced and engaging from beginning to end. She attributes this to being self-published. She says that although the traditional market isn't ready for her style of writing, her readers have found her style refreshing and a welcomed change of pace. "I thank everyone who has supported me and my work and I look forward to continuing to bring to you the kind of literature you enjoy. To purchase Hope C. Clarke's best selling books you may log on to C&B; Books Distribution Center's web site at www.cbbooksdistribution.com or email us at cbbookdist.com

The Library of Congress is pleased to announce the final release of the Frederick Douglass Papers at the Library of Congress, available on the American Memory Web site at http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/doughtml/

The Frederick Douglass Papers at the Library of Congress presents the papers of the nineteenth-century African-American abolitionist who escaped from slavery and then risked his own freedom by becoming an outspoken antislavery lecturer, writer, and publisher.

The online collection, from the Library of Congress's Manuscript Division, now contains approximately 7,400 items (38,000 images) relating to Douglass' life as an escaped slave, abolitionist, editor, orator, and public servant. The papers span the years 1841 to 1964, with the bulk of the material from 1862 to 1895. The collection consists of correspondence, speeches and articles by Douglass and his contemporaries, a draft of his autobiography, financial and legal papers, scrapbooks, and miscellaneous items. These papers reveal Douglass' interest in diverse subjects such as politics, emancipation, racial prejudice, women's suffrage, and prison reform. Included is correspondence with many prominent civil rights reformers of his day, including Susan B. Anthony, William Lloyd Garrison, Gerrit Smith, HoraceGreeley, and Russell Lant, and political leaders such as Grover Cleveland and Benjamin Harrison. Scrapbooks document Douglass' role as minister to Haiti and the controversy surrounding his interracial secondmarriage. The online release of the Frederick Douglass Papers is made possible through the generous support of the Citigroup Foundation.

American Memory is a gateway to rich primary source materials relating to the history and culture of the United States. The site offers more than 8 million digital items from more than 120 historical collections.
