DUTCH
|
Author:Terri Woods
Starting from rags to riches, Dutch rise was of his accord. Vowing never to be locked away in prison again he took his rightful place on top with his team in respected positions to initiate murder, mayhem, muscle, matter, as well as mentality!
Bernard James Jr. A.K.A. Dutch wore the crown of the most terrifying force in the streets. Yet, he was "R-E-S-P-E-C-T-E-D" The balance between being loved and feared.
I did in some fashion expect this book to blow my mind, and it might have had Kwame been the author who finished. KWAME, what's up? I was looking to be flabbergasted, as I was when I finished "The adventures of Ghetto Sam and The glory of my Demise!" Not to take anything from Teri Woods, (I did love your book) but real recognize real this isn't 100%
After anxiously awaiting my desires to read something as intense those thoughts were doused with little or no effort! The storyline was great, but what happened to "THE CLIMAX?"
Not to mention we still have no clue as to how Bernard James Jr. became known in the streets as THE NOTORIOUS DUTCH? I'm guessing seeing that it's a trilogy we'll find out!
In the event I'm bidding for Kwame's writing skills, and mastermind to fulfill me. It's as if Teri tried to leave you in suspense, but this! "Nut-up under pressure?" It did somewhat hold my interest and just on Kwame strength it gets 4 stars, could've been so much more...............

REMEMBER ME TO HARLEM
|
Author:Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes is widely remembered as a celebrated star of the Harlem Renaissance -- a writer whose bluesy, lyrical poems and novels still have broad appeal. What's less well known about Hughes is that for much of his life he maintained a friendship with Carl Van Vechten, a flamboyant white critic, writer, and photographer whose ardent support of black artists was peerless.
Despite their differences ? Van Vechten was forty-four to Hughes twenty-two when they met?Hughes? and Van Vechten?s shared interest in black culture lead to a deeply-felt, if unconventional friendship that would span some forty years. Between them they knew everyone ? from Zora Neale Hurston to Richard Wright, and their letters, lovingly and expertly collected here for the first time, are filled with gossip about the antics of the great and the forgotten, as well as with talk that ranged from race relations to blues lyrics to the nightspots of Harlem, which they both loved to prowl. It?s a correspondence that, as Emily Bernard notes in her introduction, provides ?an unusual record of entertainment, politics, and culture as seen through the eyes of two fascinating and irreverent men.

ONE HUNDRED YEAR'S OF SOLITUDE
|
Author:Gabriel Garcia Marquez
One of the 20th century's enduring works, One Hundred Years of Solitude is a widely beloved and acclaimed novel known throughout the world, and the ultimate achievement in a Nobel Prize?winning career.
The novel tells the story of the rise and fall of the mythical town of Macondo through the history of the Buend?family. It is a rich and brilliant chronicle of life and death, and the tragicomedy of humankind. In the noble, ridiculous, beautiful, and tawdry story of the Buend?family, one sees all of humanity, just as in the history, myths, growth, and decay of Macondo, one sees all of Latin America.
Love and lust, war and revolution, riches and poverty, youth and senility -- the variety of life, the endlessness of death, the search for peace and truth -- these universal themes dominate the novel. Whether he is describing an affair of passion or the voracity of capitalism and the corruption of government, Gabriel Garc?M?uez always writes with the simplicity, ease, and purity that are the mark of a master.
Alternately reverential and comical, One Hundred Years of Solitude weaves the political, personal, and spiritual to bring a new consciousness to storytelling. Translated into dozens of languages, this stunning work is no less than an accounting of the history of the human race.

Her website, Eroticanoir.com, gets over a million hits a year from around the world, and her fans look forward to every one of her publishing ventures with eager anticipation.
Chocolate Flava is the first in a series of collections of great erotic fiction edited by Zane, the reigning queen of erotica. Among the contributors are names already familiar to readers of erotica, such as Reginald Harris, Robert Edison Sandiford, Jonathan Luckett and, of course, Zane -- as well as emerging voices, such as Geneva Barnes and Robert Scott Adams. What they all have in common is that they are great at what they do, and have been handpicked by Zane -- an editor who knows a hot story when she sees it.
Zane wanted stories "that took risks, that explored unique situations, that were creative beyond compare." She wanted to show that men and women can equally express themselves through the medium of erotic fiction. She wanted stories that would turn her on.
