BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Getting to the heart of the matter, everyone has "Matters of the Heart." Trauma, love, passion, and lies surround Heartland Memorial Hospital, where tantalizing dreams and miracles come true. At Heartland Memorial, in the midst of all the trauma and medical miracles, a unique form of love and chemistry is created.
Handsome, Dr. Kenneth Michaels definitely has profound matters of the heart. Mourning the loss of his wife, his only joy comes from working with medicine, healing those in need, and spending time with his ten-year-old daughter. Ever since death came like a thief in the midnight hour and stole his beloved LeAnn, his life has turned for the worse and his personality is less than pleasant by far. While in the process of grieving, he has become cold, bitter, and reluctant toward dating. For he feels that true love only comes once in a lifetime, and unfortunately, his true love has not only come but is now forever gone.
Nurse Katilla Richardson's heart has been consumed overtime with insecurity ever since she got dumped by NFL superstar Brendan Cummings. Her heart is scarred, and she is unable to believe that decent men actually exist. Her only passion in life is her nursing career at Heartland Memorial, and her only focus and goal in life is making sure she gets accepted into the school of medicine's Physician Assistant Program.
When Kenneth and Katilla cross paths, they struggle to engage in a halfway decent and polite conversation. Kenneth's cold and egotistical behavior prompts Katilla to seduce him in order to guarantee her placement into the Physician Assistant Program, where Kenneth is an active board and staff member.
However, after seductively maneuvering her way into Kenneth's life, the unexpected happens. She begins to fall in love. Their journey of love is a passionate one. That is, until Kenneth discovers what was Katilla's underlying reason for originally having gotten involved with him. To make matters worse, someone from her past reenters her life, a devastating secret is revealed, and things become explosive!
Now, Katilla is faced with making a decision that will not only affect the rest of her life, but everyone that she has grown to love and care for as well. Will she make the right choice? Will her decision bring her joy? Or will it bring her pain?
Regardless of her choice, one thing is for certain, she will definitely have "Matters of the Heart."
